Welcome Back at Smoke’s

There is no better way to welcome back 2013ers from winter break and from abroad fall semester than have an event at the Pennstitution itself: Smokey Joe's. For only $1, students enjoyed free food, open bar, and great music by 2013's very own DJ Federicko Castro. 400 students could not have asked for a better start to a new semester. Cheers!

OCR: On Campus Relaxation

Oh, OCR. You thought you had us, but too bad. We know what our 2013ers are going through, cause hey, we're juniors, too! To help juniors de-stress before finals and before the onslaught of applications deadlines coming up, Class Board held a unique study break at the Commons Late Night. Over 300 juniors enjoyed free yummy comfort food, free energy drink giveaways, free massages, and live music from our fellow junior Daniel Wertman.

Homecoming 2011: Penn v. Princeton

Class Board collaborated with Penn Traditions yet again to throw another great Homecoming Weekend. With the all-access Quaker Pass, fellow juniors celebrated Quakerfest, which included free food, free beer garden, free scarf, and amazing giveaways. Following Penn's incredible victory over Princeton (37-9!), students supported their fellow Penn students at the Student Shorts Film Screening presented by the Penn Alumni Film Festival. Students also participated in later festivities, such as the Young Alumni Party and the yPenn Highball, where they mingled and connected with recent alumni. See the rest of the events here

2 Broke Girls Pilot Screening

200 juniors attended an exclusive pre-screening of 2 Broke Girls, a new CBS show produced by Penn alum Whitney Cummings that portrays the post-grad life of a Penn student. In addition to watching the pilot, students networked with co-star Beth Behre, CBS recruiters, and CBS VPs of Marketing.

SKIMMER

This year, we brought Skimmer back.  Back to its athletic roots, back to being a can’t-miss event.  Hundreds of juniors and sophomores gathered to celebrate the Quaker football team in advance of their game vs. Lafayette.   On College Green, students enjoyed Qdoba, Don Memo’s (directly from the truck!), and Rita’s Water Ice- all while dancing to the jams of a Dave Mathews cover band and watching the Quaker Girls perform.  But that wasn’t the best part of Skimmer.  We even amended the university’s risk management code and put two hot air balloons on Hill Field!  Everyone left the event excited about the football team’s game the next afternoon.
